New Boat Appeal 2020

BUBC is launching its first major crowdfunding campaign in an effort to continue the expansion of its boat fleet.

The fleet has recently grown in both size and quantity thanks to support from the Students' Union, the University of Bath Alumni Fund, and the BUBC Alumni.

In order for BUBC to continue to develop and be competitive, this must carry on.

Expanding the fleet of boats allows rowers to reach their potential, and improves the availability of rowing to the wider student body at Bath.

The Club has identified a coxed four boat on sale from Hudson Boat Works, from whom they have recently bought several boats.

BUBC has had success in 4+ categories in recent years including:

  • Gold in MInt4+ at BUCS Head 2019

  • 4th in MC4+ at BUCS Regatta 2019

  • Qualified and made the Friday at Henley Royal Regatta in 2019 in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup

  • Bronze in WInt4+ at BUCS Head 2020

The 4+ is the only crew class in which the club does not have a racing shell, having bought a 2x/-, 4x/-, 4x, and 8+ in the last 4 years.

The boat which has been identified is an ex Eton College boat, costing £13,248, which Hudson have kindly discounted from the original price.

Thanks to the regular supporters of BUBC, and regular Direct Debit donations via the University of Bath Alumni Fund, this project is being fully match-funded.

This means that every pound donated will be matched by one already given by the BUBC Alumni, up to 50% of the target amount.

Funds which have already been raised have been put towards a deposit on the boat, meaning the target for the main campaign is £8,248.
